Hi Nancy, Our time at your cottage was restful and pleasant. Everything worked out and all was well. Thanks so much for making us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Rima...Illinois (Summer 2006) September at Covington Cove Cottage What a wonderful week we spent in mid-September. We have never stayed in such a clean, well-equipped cottage. It was the perfect size for the two of us. We accomplished our goal of total R & R. We walked to the Whistle Stop each morning for the papers and hot fresh baked muffins, then a long walk with virtually few people or cars in sight. The week was very quiet, iffy weather at times which didn't spoil our time at all, although we walked on the beach only one day. We drove to Three Oaks for lunch at Froelichs and dinner at Mesa Luna. We also ate at some wonderful other restaurants in and around Union Pier. With no crowds, we could virtually walk-in and be seated anywhere. Nancy was a wonderful hostess/landlord and made sure we didn't want for a thing to make our vacation a wonderful one. We look forward to returning in September 2007 and already reserved our week. Hi Nancy! Just thought I'd send you a note to let you know how we're doing. We're having a great time! The weather is perfect - sunny and warm, but not hot. It rained just a little on Monday morning and again this morning, but otherwise the skies have been clear. We practically have the beach all to ourselves! Chris and I agree that this is the best vacation we've had in a long time. Chris and I have been searching for an ideal "vacation spot" for several years now. Along the way, we've had some very nice vacations, but hadn't found "our place" until this year. After staying at your cottage, we both agreed that we would like to make it our annual summer vacation. I will be in touch soon to reserve a week for next year. Here are a few suggestions for anyone visiting the area: Go hiking at one of the State Parks in Berrien County. Warren Dunes is just north a few miles on I-94 and has some great hiking and a very nice beach. State Parks Enjoy a wine tasting at one of the local wineries. Round Barn and St. Julian wineries have tasting rooms off of Exit 6 on I-94. If you're willing to travel a little, you can visit one of the vineyards for a tour. Michigan Wine Trail Pick your own fruit and vegetables at a nearby u-pick farm. Stover's U-Pick in Berrien Springs is my favorite because if has a great assortment of fruits and the people are very friendly. Call them in advance to find out what is in season (269-471-1401). Stover's U-Pick Take in a movie at one of the local drive-in theaters. The closest drive-in is the Five Mile in Dowagiac. If you're willing to drive 30-40 minutes, you can see a double feature at the Sunset in Hartford for $10 per carload. There is a concession stand, or you can bring your own snacks and drinks. Call in advance to find out which movies are playing (Sunset phone number is 269-621-4194) (Five Mile phone number is 269-782-7879). Drive-In Theatre Play a round of golf.
